Tidying things up with levelled beds

Garden Life
Beds require constant maintenance and care – and this includes repeated levelling.

Preventing water-logging

Before commencing with planting, roughly level the bed with a rake. In this manner, clumps and puddles are prevented from forming in the bed.

Follow-up care

However, irregularities may even occur in the bed after planting. These, too, can be cautiously levelled between the plants using a rake. At the same time, this loosens up the earth.

Expert tip

While levelling the bed, stones and weeds can be simply removed and fertilisers incorporated into the soil.
