Our GARDENA smart system enables intelligent irrigation and lawn care, anytime, anywhere. All in just one app. For an even better smart garden experience we open our system and make the integration of other smart devices possible through our GARDENA smart app*. More possibilities arise through the connection to established cloud platforms: GARDENA smart system works with Apple HomeKit. Users can also use their GARDENA smart system devices with Amazon Alexa and IFTTT. Today, you can already integrate Husqvarna's Automower and further smart devices and services will follow.

Amazon Alexa: Control your smart SILENO conveniently via voice

“Alexa, tell smart system to send Robi home until the next schedule.” With the GARDENA smart system Skill for Amazon’s Alexa, you can control your smart SILENO conveniently via voice control. For now, you can start and park your mower using English or German. All you need to do is to say “Alexa, tell smart system to start my SILENO for 2 hours”. Or “Alexa, open smart system and park the mower until further notice.” We are working on making other devices and functions available to you by Alexa in the future.

How to get started?
To be able to use the skill, please first connect your GARDENA account to your Alexa. Activate the skill and open it with: "Alexa, open smart system". The skill will explain to you how to continue.

GARDENA smart system works with Apple HomeKit

GARDENA smart Water Control, smart Irrigation Control, smart Sensor and smart Power work with Apple HomeKit. And with a simple software update, existing users can add their GARDENA devices to the Apple Home app and have Siri® control their devices. GARDENA has leveraged Apple’s software authentication for HomeKit to enable compatibility without the use of other new hardware.

The initial setup of watering schedules is managed through the GARDENA app, which advises users on the optimum settings. Once that is set up, irrigation systems can then be easily controlled by voice using Siri or with the touch of a button on the Apple Home app on iPhone, iPad, Mac and HomePod.

How to integrate your GARDENA smart system device into Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and IFTTT

It could not be easier: The GARDENA smart App supports you step-by-step. Just go to “Settings”. Under “Smart Home” you can then find possible integrations like Apple HomeKit, Amazon Alexa and IFTTT. Choose your integration and follow the simple instructions.

IFTTT: Connect the GARDENA smart system to favorite apps and devices

GARDENA smart system works with IFTTT. The cloud platform offers users infinite ways to connect their smart garden to other apps and devices.

IFTTT is a free platform that connects a variety of applications and devices. The abbreviation stands for “If this, then that”. Users can connect their favorite supported apps and devices. Even whole chains of actions are possible. Through these connection, users can create unlimited functions for their GARDENA smart system devices. To help users get started, GARDENA created some practical connections involving popular services on the platform. User can turn on these connections immediately or adapt them to suit their individual needs.

For example, smart Power, the outdoor plug adapter, can be connected to switch on the garden lighting or whenever you arrive home. Irrigation can be stopped according to local weather data. Or connect your favorite voice assistant to make mowing the lawn with your smart SILENO as simple as saying “OK, Google” or “Hey, Alexa”. The possibilities are almost unlimited.

The perfect companion for large gardens: the Husqvarna Automower

The robotic lawnmower Automower from Husqvarna can now be integrated into the GARDENA smart system. In addition to GARDENA's intelligent SILENO mowing robots, which cover lawn sizes from 500 to 1,300 square meters, the Husqvarna Automower offers an alternative for customers with large and complex gardens of up to 5000 square meters and a gradient of up to 45%.
